At 18 Km. south of the province of Pisco can be found the district of Paracas, place had found millenary tombs, textiles, mantles, funeral fards and ceramics of those ancient natives from one of the most important cultures of the pre-inca period, that inhabited this desertical paradise for more than three hundred years.

The word Paracas also means - "Rain of sand" - a typical weather phenomenon of this zone that can reach up to 36 km per tour shaping smoothly the sands of the desert.
The desert of Paracas is one of the driest places on the earth; its climate has an annual average rainfall only of 2 mm, originating mainly of the condensation from the winter fogs.
Paracas National Reserve also includes an extensive área of islands that contains several and abundant marine ecosystem. Every day from the beach El Chaco leaves the embarcations toward the Ballestas Island, in the route to the islands is appreciated ¡n the distance an enormous dune the engraving of an enigmatic figure, a shape of a candelabrum of some 120 meters long approximately, whose origin and purpose continue to being a mystery to the present.
The Ballestas Island harbor thousands of species of coastal birds, hundreds of seals and shoal of fish of diverse varieties that conform an important biodiversity in the southern seaboard. The embarcations travel through by the islands where they concentrate the majority of seals population and guano birds. The abundant marine life in this área is made possible thanks to presence of the cold Humboldt Current that is responsible for filling the water of plankton and microorganisms, enriching still more this sea.
More the south, between Zumaque and Supay beaches a beautiful rock formation is discovered known like "The Cathedral", a natural monument that the wind and the time took charge on shaping. This natural structure possesses a dome that resembles the tower of a cathedral. In its interior they inhabit a great variety of sea birds, and is possible to find the sea otter or Chingungo (Lutra felina), a species under extinction.
Paracas is a beautiful spot that is situated in one of the desert points of the Peruvian seaboard, its warm water and tranquil beaches as its lukewarm climate do of this, a mysterious and delectable place at the same time, because in each breathe feel the antiquity of a culture of artists, in each step feels the antiquity of a millenary desert, and in each dusk feel the same breeze that caressed the cheeks of the old paracas people.
