Tour Itinerary
Day 01: San Juan
We leave the main square of Yucay crossing the Inca platforms still in use following the San Juan s Creek, then passing by the chullpas (circular constructions) of Ayapampa and a colonial mill we arrives to the high part of the creek in the area of Sakrachayoc, here vestiges of very old paintings can be seen in natural caves. The first Day of the trek concludes setting our camp in the Village of San Juan , where one can be interrelated with the peasants of the place.
Day 02: Yanacocha Lagoon
From the Jakajlluyoc Creek a horseshoe path head us to the highest point reached during the journey, the pass of Tuqsana is at 4000 meters high. From this point we have an impressive view of the snowy peak Illawuaman or San Juan , as well as of the whole valley; from here the descent begins arriving at the Yanacocha lagoon located at approximately about 3,800 meters, surrounded by a forest of “queñuales” native endangered specie of trees. The trek continues descending to the area of Quelokatupa for a road of wild thorns and some dispersed housings along the creek. Finally you arrive to the Community of Huayoccari where the trek culminates.
